Simple Pleasures Thursday - What Have You Enjoyed This Week?

This week I thought it was time for me to take a few minutes to look at the simple things I like to do that make me happy.  I don't mean just appreciating the Simple Pleasures around me - but also recognizing the Simple Pleasures I like to do.  I think there's a difference.

I can look around me and appreciate the garden, or the books on the book shelves, or the vintage linens - but I also wanted to give some thought to what I do that makes me happy, or brings me pleasure.

How would you spend the day if you had no responsibilities, no where you had to be, and no one you had to take care of?  I had a hard time with this concept.  Like many of you, I seem to be programmed to always be doing something productive - always doing something I had to do, as opposed to doing something I wanted to do.

I seem to struggle with feeling guilty if I'm not "working on something", or I worry someone will think I'm "lazy" if I'm not busy.  80% of my brain realizes I'm a grown woman who can do what she wants to do, but, 20% of my brain keeps nagging at me to keep moving - do something, anything.

One day this week I ignored that 20% of my brain, and took the better part of the day to do something I really enjoy, but never make time for.  I took some of my photos, played with them a bit, and turned them into something I really enjoy.  I liked learning a new program.  I liked creating something different from a photo - and I liked  not feeling like I had an obligation to be doing something else.  It was totally mindless pleasure.  Or, a Simple Pleasure for me this week.

Here a couple of ideas I played around with:

How about you, What Simple Pleasures have you enjoyed this week?  And - did you make time to do something you enjoyed this week?
